Hello!
Who are you?
I am an independent investigative journalist based on the Isle of Man, prioritising quality over quantity and maintaining complete editorial independence, free from external influence. I have no desire to receive recognition for my work – only in bringing important issues to light.
Why did you create Isle Check?
Isle Check was created out of a growing frustration with the lack of meaningful challenge and proper scrutiny of government activity and wider operations on the Isle of Man. I am an investigative journalist who chooses to remain anonymous, not because of fear, but to ensure the focus remains firmly on the facts, not the individual.
I am not affiliated with any government body or organisation. My only allegiance is to the truth. I treat all organisations fairly, but I will not hesitate to call out public relations spin for what it is. My aim is to better inform the public, not to placate those in positions of power.
Over time, I observed an increasing amount of misinformation gaining traction on social media, fuelling speculation and feeding the ever-active Manx rumour mill. At the same time, the local media landscape has become increasingly passive — often relying on press releases rather than pursuing proper investigative journalism. This kind of uncritical reporting amounts to little more than advertising in disguise.
I possess a long-standing background in journalism and communications, I am regularly sought out to provide strategic crisis communications. As such, cutting through noise, spin, and speculation has become second nature.
Isle Check is my contribution towards a more informed, more resilient Isle of Man — one that does not shy away from asking difficult questions or challenging the narrative.
Who pays you?
I do not get paid for running Isle Check; if I ever choose to include advertising on the site, it will be limited to standard Google Ads — never advertorials or paid content disguised as journalism.
